Sue Van Maanen, DVM
Dr. Sue grow up in a family of 7 children where life was never dull. My parents were NOT animal lovers but somehow we (the kids) managed to try our luck at rabbits, guinea pigs, hamsters, dogs, and even horses. My future profession was determined at a very young age much to the disapproval of my parents.
I attended Iowa State University for my undergraduate studies and my Veterinary Medicine. During my freshman year I met my future husband (Dr. Randy) in anatomy class. We were married in 1989. After graduation we both accepted positions in Cedar Falls, Iowa. I practiced mixed animal medicine and took emergency call 2/3 weeks . It was a Great experience for the green Veterinarian.
Our family now consists of 5 children Blake, Tyler, Ryan, Kayla and Carla. Carla joined us through the foster care program. They all attend the Oshkosh Christian School. We also have a Boston Terrier and a Golden Retriever just to keep life interesting.
In my free time I enjoy doing agility and keeping the ship afloat at home i.e. taxi driver, maid, chef. I love both my careers and look forward to each and every day, wherever it takes me.
