Breeding Policy Change

Dear “Client”,

Great Lakes Veterinary Clinic is excited to announce that we will now be offering in-house progesterone testing!   As a valued client, we wanted to personally let you know of this exciting news.  Progesterone testing will now be able to be scheduled from 8:30am-4:30pm on weekdays and 8:00am-11:00am on Saturdays. Results will be returned to you within 2 hours either by email, that will have a written interpretation of your results, or by phone.

As we continue to offer more reproductive services and pre-breeding screenings, it will be imperative that we continue to comply with the practice laws that govern our profession.  In order to comply, the following will be required: an active doctor/patient relationship, defined as at least one physical exam or wellness exam within the last year (12months); and documentation of a current Rabies vaccine.  These will be needed on every patient on which we perform a progesterone test or any other reproductive services (ultrasounds or x-rays for pregnancy, brucellosis testing, c-sections etc.).

For this reason, we ask that you please monitor your pet’s status so that when the time comes for a progesterone test (or other reproductive service), we will already have a doctor/patient relationship and an exam will not be required at the time of the progesterone testing.  If a progesterone test is needed and a patient has not had a physical exam or wellness exam within the last year, we will require an exam at the time of the first progesterone test.  In order to facilitate easier scheduling as well as avoid urgent care fees, we ask that you maintain a current doctor/patient relationship for all your breeding pets.

Thank you for your cooperation and for entrusting your breeding program to the doctors and staff of GLVC.  We appreciate your business.

Professionally,

Doctors and staff of GLVC
