Medical Services

We are pleased to offer some of the latest technology in diagnostics. Our comprehensive in-house laboratory allows for rapid assessment of your pet’s overall health. It features testing for the following:

Blood:
Complete CBCs (including red blood cells, white blood cells, and platelets); Chemistry panels including liver values (ALT, Alkaline Phosphatase), kidney values (BUN, Creatinine), Total Protein, Albumin, Glucose, Sodium, Phosphorus, and Potassium. We also offer the 4DX test which screens for heartworm and three tick born diseases at once (Lyme, Ehrlichia, and Anaplasma).

Urine:
A urinalysis includes pH, specific gravity, microscopic evaluation of sediment, and the detection of bilirubin, protein, blood, and glucose.

Fecal Exams:
Test for intestinal parasites (roundworms, hookworms, whipworms, coccidia, tapeworms, Giardia)   www.petsandparasites.org

Cytology:
Services include microscopic evaluation of tissue samples, bacterial culture and sensitivity, and semen evaluation for breeding purposes.

Skin:
Testing for the presence of parasites (mange), dermatophytosis (ringworm), and bacterial or yeast infections.

Video Otoscopy:
A procedure using fiber-optic illumination and video camera that allows doctors and clients to view exam findings live on a flat screen monitor, or saved as color pictures. We frequently use this technology for deep ear cleanings in cases of severe or chronic otitis. The video otoscope allows us to compare the status of the ear canal and tympanic membrane before, during, and after treatment. Additional applications include dental, intranasal, and vaginal exams.

Ultrasound:
This technology utilizes high-frequency sound waves to produce real-time images of the patient’s internal organs. It is a painless, non-invasive way to screen for the presence of inflammation, infection, or tumors. We also use ultrasound for pregnancy checks.

Radiology:
We are proud to be one of the few veterinary clinics in the area to have digital radiography.

Specialized tests:
such as thyroid panels, progesterone assays, and surgical biopsies are sent to Marshfield Laboratory, Michigan State University, or other labs.
